BOTH. But who cares? He certainly does not! In the light of his newest--and frankly, most "mature"--album, his sexuality is seems to be the pressing topic. I think the title of the album, Flower Boy, is probably screaming GAY for the first time to many listeners. Truth is...
Part of why no one takes Tyler's coming out serious is because he has also been accused of being homophobic for using the word "faggot". In his song Garden Shed, he says:
Heavy on my mind
All my friends lost
They couldn't read the signs
I didn't wanna talk and tell 'em my location
And they ain't wanna walk
Truth is, since a youth kid, thought it was a phase
Thought it'd be like the Frank; poof, gone
But, it's still goin' on
It is very common for "homophobic" people to later come out, anyway. It comes from a self-hate, and part of the troubles of being closeted is keeping it a secret. There just is no right way to coming out, and there are multiple ways of coping being in the closet--including denial. Tyler coped with art, music and little bit of self-hate. It's easy to see how this could be trolling, but my gay-dar tells me otherwise. Check out this gnarly drawing he made:
In 2014, in an interview, Larry King asked if he thought there would be a "gay rap artist" (hint: there already was) to which Tyler responded in the most Tyler way:
"Maybe one day...but why does that shit matter? Like, if he wanna fuck dudes or whatever, why does that matter? Why do we care? That's so crazy right?"
SO, GAY OR TROLL?
Final verdict:
Tyler the Creator is a gay troll.
But who cares? He certainly does not!
